I’m Selise Stewart, a Houston interior designer — and I don’t just design rooms, I design around your life.

People call me when they want to make sense of the house they’ve already got, or the one they’re starting from scratch, and turn it into somewhere they actually want to be. Sometimes that’s twenty years of pieces you love that don’t quite talk to each other yet. Sometimes it’s an empty house and a deadline. Either way, my job is the same: figure out what your life is supposed to look like, and build toward it from wherever you’re standing.

I think of a room the way you’d think of a collage. I move things around — color, pattern, an old piece next to something brand new — until it clicks. I don’t follow trends. I follow you.

I’m not precious about where things come from, either. I’ll spend real money on a rug or an upholstery job that’s going to carry a room for the next fifteen years, and I’m just as happy sourcing a great lamp from a resale shop if it does the job. The mix is the point.

If there’s one thing I want you to walk away with, it’s this: you don’t need to throw out your life to fix it. You need someone who can see what it’s already trying to become. That’s the part of this job I love most.
